Why are you still knocking on that door?

 Doors. Doors! DOORS! 

We all look for that one door that will catapult our lives, whether spiritual or natural, to pinnacles of superiority and knowledge. So we look closely at the doors before us…

- One is a common wooden door with a shiny doorknob. Nothing special. Just a door. 

- One is a door made of thatch and mud. The only doorknob is a piece of string. 

 - One is a stain glass leaded door. It sparkles and shines. It has a crystal door knob. 

Which one to choose? Which one to choose? We want splash. We want importance, so we walk determinedly up to the stain glass leaded door and knock.  We wait… we knock again… we pound just in case whoever is inside didn’t hear us. Aaaannnndddd nothing!

We stand for a while waiting. We sit down and wait some more. We look around for a window to peer into to see who’s home. Still waiting. NO. ONE. ANSWERS.  Okay. So why are you still knocking on THAT door? 

Let’s go back a step. Which one to choose? That’s where I would start. Did you pray about the door to choose? Or did you pick the one that appealed to you the most?  We love flash and I personally love bling! But read 1 Kings 19:11-13. Elijah is in the cave hiding.  He was sure the Almighty God would be in the powerful wind, or in the earthquake, or in the fire. He thought loud, flashy had to be God, but after that came a small whisper. So small he had to come out to the mouth of the cave to hear it. Then he heard God ask him “what are you doing here Elijah?”

So, I must again ask, why are you still knocking on that particular door. Walk away from that door and listen for that still, small voice. God will direct you through the door He has picked for you. Behind it will be exactly what you need for the journey.

He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me


He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way”

 In this microwave, instant, face paced world you would think everything would be done quickly. We have fast food to ease our hunger. We have movies on demand to entertain us. Step Away From The Stones

 I am reading a book, “Everybody’s Normal Till You Get To Know Them” by John Ortberg.  Yeah.  Cool title!  He starts out with everybody’s weird.  Well news flash! I always knew that.  I call my weird being “unique”. 🤣 I digress… Chapter 5 is based on the woman caught in the act of adultery in John 8:3-7. But the sentence that pricked my heart was on page 95. “Why do churches produce so many stone throwers?” Back in the Old Testament, the law (in Leviticus and Deuteronomy), the punishment for sins was to throw stones at the sinner until they were dead. Commit adultery - stone them. Worship another god - stone them. Rebellious child - stone them. Will not heed the priest, has cursed God, or built idols - dead, dead, and, you guessed it D E A D.  I’m sure if we were still under the law a few of us would not have made it this far.  So why am I bringing this up now? Da dada DA! 👑

 All I have to say is Imperial Margarine, for some of my readers to understand the name of this blog. I would encourage the rest of you to Google Imperial Margarine commercial some time. Especially the 1970’s commercial with both the little girl and little boy trying the margarine. They are really cute.  When I was little, my grandma had a box of old jewelry in her dresser that we were allowed to play with. I loved layering on necklaces, clip earrings, and rings while making believe I was a princess (this is probably where I got my love of bling). The only thing missing was the tiara. But I have a great imagination, so the tiara was there too. I even tried eating Imperial Margarine. Unfortunately, Da dada DAH… doesn't  really put a crown on your head. 🤣 My mom and dad never permitted “princess” behavior. However, I must admit I have had my share of princess attitudes.
