The Lost Beatitude
”Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape. “ Anonymous
I am quite sure this is one of the lost beatitudes. If not, it should be!
I have finally😁 reached middle aged and have found that when I get up in the morning my muscles and bones groan at me. I don’t know about you, but I’m sure I’ve heard my body say “what were you thinking!”, after a hard day at work unloading a truck. We know that the less we move the more our bodies lose mobility and the closer we are to being O L D! Shiver! So we keep moving to keep our muscles flexible and our bones moving.
So what about our attitude and spiritual flexibility? Hmmmm.
How often does someone we know (sometimes the person in the mirror that we know intimately) get totally bent out of shape by a relatively small event? Instead of flexing to meet the situation or flexing around someone else’s attitude, we add a big helping of our own attitude. Our spirituality starts cracking and WE break through the spirit of God compromising the stretching we did to remain flexible in the spirit.
In my own life, I have cracked and groaned under the stress of my own attitude. The excuses of I didn’t feel good, I had a bad day, or I was just responding in kind are not what Christ is requiring of us in our quest for spiritual flexibility. So I find myself praying for forgiveness and a reminder to bend the next time I come up against a rock or a hard place.
Everyone loves soft supple leather. Leather’s softness is maintained by special oils! 💡Likewise the anointing oil of the Spirit provides that flexibility and reminder to bend we need when we find ourselves bending or cracking. The more anointing oil we allow Him to apply to our lives the more flexible we become, until we are shaped in His likeness.

Psalm 139:23-24
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”
